Asafoetida - Perungayam (Hing)

Amongst all the seasonings and mixes we use for Indian cooking, there is one spice that we only use a pinch of! Asafoetida is one that is recognised even by Ayurveda for its healing and flavour enhancing properties.

Asafoetida or Hing has a strong odour which envelopes a dish and makes it even more aromatic and appetising. This powder contains resin, volatile oil extract, ash and endogenous gum. These ingredients give this powder a texture and taste that is distinct.
